Eastleigh Station, Yard & Works on 17th May 1991
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Eastleigh Station taken on 17/05/1991. Taken again from the multi storey car park opposite the station we capture the expanse of the Yard and Works. Still class 33s are working hard on the more local freight trips and 47s on freightliner traffic. The class 60 locomotives are making more of an appearance and surprising to see a class 50 making her round trip from and to Salisbury ECS. The "Thumper" services are still on the "Pompey" runs but a lot is about to change, so I do visit this location several times to keep up to date on the scene at this interesting location. I hope this clip takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.
It features various locomotives including Class 33, 50, and 60 units working on freight services. The footage highlights the activity at Eastleigh and includes references to locations such as Salisbury and Hope. The video provides a historical glimpse into railway operations of that era with a focus on freight movements and the changing landscape of rail transport.
Fishplate has identified 4 locomotives in this video. We’ve also matched 5 operators . Create a free account to see where they appear, unlock timestamps and locations, and view the full breakdown.
