BR Class 43 High Speed Train in the Pre-Digital Age
(1987 - 1998)
Volume BRHST-01
Carrying on with this replacement series, until my archive collection from between the 2000's to the current time is recovered, this feature focuses on the BR High Speed Train, The Inter-City 125 as they were known and branded. Built my BREL Ltd, at Crewe Works between 1975 and 1982 and fitted with the famous screaming Paxman Valenta Engines, earning their nickname 'Screaming Bananas' from enthusiasts mainly. These Locomotives were replaced with MTU Engines, sounding much quieter and a lot less smokey from 2005 onwards, losing much of their appeal. Introduced on the Western Region first in 1976, running to Bristol, Weston Super Mare, South Wales and later to Devon and Cornwall as Class 253. Later the East Coast Mainline acquired the Class 254, replacing the Iconic 'Deltics' on the Scotland Edinburgh/Aberdeen services, cutting journey times. They gained even more usage as Cross Country employed them on services accross the Country and as privatisation took hold many different liveries were employed.
This feature see's the HST's at work on the Western and Eastern Regions (ECML) and also in Scotland, between the years of 1987 right up to 1998 . There will no doubt be more features on this now Historical Workhorse of the Railway and in many different locations throughout the system. I do hope you enjoy the feature and please comment and like, if you feel the video was of some enjoyment and nostalgia to watch.
I will return to my present series BR in the 2010s as soon as possible, it could be sometime yet and as I am getting acquainted with the new editing suite, still ,you may well come across some dodgy fades and transitions. Thank you all so much for your kind messages and of course for your patience, which is always appreciated.
