Great Central Railway New Years Eve Night Rider Event, 31st December 2025
Coverage of the Great Central Railway New Year Night Rider Event that took place over the night & early morning of Wedensday 31st December 2025 and Thursday 1st January 2026. Locomotives used were visiting Hymek D7018 at the Leicester end of the train with BR Standard 5MT 73156 at the Loughborough end. The plan was to make four return trips between Loughborough and Leicester North starting at 19:00 with the fourth trip stopping at Leicester North in time for midnight. With horns and whistles blaring, 2026 was seen in with a slightly different style for all those assembled to witness the event!
