On a much better and sunnier day than of recent, upon returning home from Wiltshire I thought I would call in at the beautiful Cathedral City of Salisbury. Setting the myself up in the station car park, to the West side of the platforms I captured on video the everyday comings and goings of SWT Class 159s on the W.O.E Route to Exeter and FGW DMU Class 158 and 150s on the Westbury and Southampton routes. A DBS Locomotive passed through slowly with a 'Long Welded Rail Train' most likely from Westbury Yard. After an hour I moved on to Romsey Station, where I positioned myself on the platform and here I witnessed the usual FGW/SWT DMU Class 158s on Portsmouth and Bristol Services. A Network Rail Test Train passed through, hauled in 'Top n Tail' formation a pair of Network Rail Liveried (Yellow) Class 57 Locomotives and shortly after in the opposite direction a train comprised of Mendip Rail Stone Wagons being hauled by DBS Locomotive 59205. A good couple of hours, which broke my journey nicely. I hope this video takes you back to the period with fond memories.
