new livery for No.1 Lord Roberts
Current Status and New Livery
Historically, the locomotive was famous for its "Thomas the Tank Engine" blue livery, serving as a licensed replica for "Day Out With Thomas" events for over 30 years. However, in early 2026, the railway decided to pause these events and repainted the engine into a smart "Caley Blue" livery, inspired by the elegant colours of the Caledonian Railway.
The industrial steam locomotive NCB No. 1 'Lord Roberts' has been repainted into a new "Caley Blue" livery for the 2026 season at the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway. The repaint was completed in March 2026 by the railway's steam department paint squad and debuted during the weekend of 28th and 29th March. Previously known for its "Thomas the Tank Engine" blue livery, the locomotive has now adopted a new appearance inspired by the Caledonian Railway's colours. The change follows the decision to pause "Day Out With Thomas" events in early 2026.
