Trains at Southampton Central, SWML, WCL - 19th November 2025
On Wednesday 19th November, I returned back to Southampton Central.I absolutely love filming there, got loads of train traffic here.
It has loads of nice facilities, such WHsmith, Coffee shops, and Waiting rooms.
View vantage points are brilliant, expect though on Platform 2 side there is a big hedge that is blocking the view, which is rather annoying so so had to move sideways pretty quick to get a shot of train going into Southampton Tunnel. I think SWR may need to get in Professional Gardener or one of Station Staff to get some sheers and cut the hedge. The views looking towards Bournemouth line and Southampton Docks is cracking.
I sort of came at the wrong time, not long after I started filming, rain pelted down, and it got windy and cold so I had to stumble into Coffee Shop for quite a while for rain to stop. Thankfully rain did eventually stop like over hour and half, so I have some decent footage. There was engineering works between Poole - Weymouth line, SWR London trains start and finish at Poole However there were problems on the line, there was flooding in Cosham area so lines was blocked, GWR, SWR, & Southern services cancelled, but the issue was quite quickly resolved.
Also I missed the last 2 freight trains, 1 I accidentally hit the record button without realising, and 1 was broken down in Eastleigh area.
So I went back a week later.
Trains you see in this video are SWR Desiros 444, 450, Southern 377, 387, Cross Country 220 221, GWR 158 Turbos, 165 & 166, GBRF 66 & 57, Freightliner 66. Network Rail Cleaning Unit.
This is first half of my filming, rather then making it all into over 2 hour video, I split it making them both slight 1 hour each.
Hope you enjoy this video.
This video captures train activity at Southampton Central, featuring multiple trains passing through the station. The footage includes views of the Bournemouth line and Southampton Docks, with some challenges due to a hedge obstructing the view from Platform 2. The recording took place on 19 November, though specific operators or headcodes are not clearly identified in the content. Several train stock numbers are noted, along with various locations across the UK rail network.
Fishplate has identified 38 locomotives in this video. We’ve also matched 2 headcodes and 10 operators . Create a free account to see where they appear, unlock timestamps and locations, and view the full breakdown.
