Thanks WCML for this surprise 25/07/2020
So I looked at my local station Marston Green and had a great surprise to see all was being diverted past my local stations.
So I was out at 06.00 to try and get some new MK 5 sleepers I needed, and I was lucky to get three which I needed out of nine.
It did remind me of the weekend when the Pope came to Coventry years ago, but then it was loads of class 81s 85s and 86s as most of the day trains were only travelling at 30mph playing follow the leader, and in this video you will see I only got bowled once.
The WCML was closed between Stafford and Rugby all weekend.
A rail disruption on the West Coast Main Line between Stafford and Rugby led to diverted services passing through Marston Green and Atherstone in July 2020. The video captures various train units, including Class 323 and Class 66 electric multiple units, as well as Class 86 diesel-electric locomotives. Several headcodes are present, indicating a range of services affected by the closure. The footage includes scenes from locations such as Coventry, Bletchley, and London Euston, highlighting the impact of the disruption on regional rail operations.
Fishplate has identified 15 locomotives in this video. We’ve also matched 10 headcodes and 7 operators . Create a free account to see where they appear, unlock timestamps and locations, and view the full breakdown.
