Locomotive Haulage on Rhymney Valley Branch in July 1998
On July 29th and 30th I was visiting South Wales and the Rhymney Branch. A couple of trains during the day were being hauled by Locomotives, 37411 "Ty Hafan" and 50031 "Hood" to and from Cardiff and Rhymney. I filmed each train in various locations over the 2 day period that I was there, starting with Bargoed, Hengoed, Ponlottyn, Rhymney and Pengam. The weather was quite agreeable considering how exposed the hills can be. Of course several class 143's were captured on film too. A welcome break to the becoming monotony of running, in these beautiful valleys. I do hope this video entertains and evokes old fond memories of the British Railway Scene of that era. I hope you are enjoying the series, and if you are familiar with the areas featured, feel free to comment and if you do like the clip please subscribe and Like.
