During my stay in the beautiful county of Yorkshire, I just had to re-visit the superb North Yorkshire Moors Railway. In lovely weather I first set myself up for a picnic beside the railway at Darnholme, where the line climbs up from Grosmont on a 1: gradient to Goathland. (Famous for the "Heartbeat" TV Series). Here I was treated to SR S15 Class steam Locomotive 825 rolling passed me towards Grosmont, and later coming up the gradient was 4MT Class 76079 hauling "The Yorkshire Coast Express" followed by "Black 5" Class 5MT Steam Locomotive 45428 named "ERIC TREACY".
Moving onto Goathland Station, SR 825 arrives returning from Pickering as does 45428 a while after. For diesel fans, all was not steam haulage on this day as the through service from Whitby to Pickering was in the hands of beautifully preserved Diesel Class 24 Locomotive number D5061 (TOPS Number 24061 and later 97201 named "EXPERIMENT". Finally my last shot for the day on this railway was to see the class 24 arrive and "Run Round" at Pickering Station (Now with a covered roof I notice) many thanks to the kind staff on the railway, where ever I visited for their hospitality. The "NYMR" is always high on my list for gala's and scenery or whenever I am in the area.
