Welcome back to Trains & Freight Diaries, and this is Part 3 of the autumn filming session at the always-busy Nuneaton Station.
With a mix of modern traction, freight traffic and high-speed passenger services already seen in Parts 1 and 2, this instalment brings something extra special — a heritage steam appearance that stole the show.
🔥 THE STAR OF TODAY — 44871 (BLACK FIVE)
One of the most memorable moments of the day was the arrival and non-stop pass of LMS Black Five 44871, running on 5Z40 with its support coach.
The locomotive rolled through Platform 5, delivering a stunning contrast against the overhead wires and modern WCML traffic — a rare and captivating sight on one of Britain’s busiest electrified main lines.
Heritage steam meeting high-speed electrics and heavy freight created an unforgettable moment in this filming series.
🚂 FREIGHT & LIGHT ENGINE MOVEMENTS
Alongside the steam highlight, the session continued with more diverse freight movements, including:
• 66596 — 4M20
• 66425 — 4V44
• 66567 — 4L93
• 66565 — 4O38
A repeat feature from earlier in the day saw another light engine running of a Class 90 duo:
👉 90014 + 90011 — 0Z90
A brilliant pairing and increasingly uncommon to witness in formation.
🚅 PASSENGER SERVICES
Passenger operations remained steady and varied, including both regional and high-speed services:

• 390152 — 1A27
• 390103 — 1S52
• 390043 — 1A24
From Class 170 DMUs to Pendolino sets at line speed, the WCML once again showcased its fast-paced rhythm.
