Basingstoke Station on 20th April 1996
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Basingstoke Station on 20/04/1996. Viewed from the top floor of the multi storey to the West of the platforms on the "Down" side the usual traffic was witnessed with addition a charter special organised by "Pathfinder Tours" by the name of "The Southern Coasterman" The train started out from Bristol with 33s 33026 + 33057 in charge which were taken over by Class 71 E5001 from Basingstoke to Preston Park (Brighton). The tour returned later in the day via Redhill. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.
It features a charter special operated by Pathfinder Tours, named "The Southern Coasterman," which included locomotives 33026 and 33057, later joined by Class 71 E5001. The journey involved stops at Brighton, Preston Park, Redhill, and Hope. The footage provides a nostalgic look at railway operations during the 1990s with various locomotive classes present.
Fishplate has identified 3 locomotives in this video. We’ve also matched 1 headcode and 3 operators . Create a free account to see where they appear, unlock timestamps and locations, and view the full breakdown.
