Saturday Fun at Carlisle: More Settle Carlisle Shuttles 10 January 26

Channel: Leslie Gilpin Railways

Description
The Settle Carlisle shuttle service between Preston and Carlisle continues to run. Sometimes very busy and other times quiet depending on the numbers travelling on the connecting services to and from Glasgow and Edinburgh.
We get a Class 37 and Class 57 arrive from York, presumably for route proving should any more snow hit southern Scotland, Freightliner moves some of its locos to Leeds Balm Road and Colas move China Clay empties fro Workington to Scotland.
We do get some snow - for a minute or two but it doesn't settle!
An interesting movement at the station is when pendolinos move to the Newcastle shunt neck to clear a through platform for another train whilst laid over between services. Its not obvious from the station just how long that electrified track is - it certainly has the capacity for an 11 car set.
