RARE CLASS 56 & 60 Pair! Incredible Variety at Peterborough Station

From high-speed Azumas blasting through the platforms to heavy freight rumbling along the slow lines, this full-day session at Peterborough railway station delivered incredible variety. Filmed between 08:15 and 17:45 on 3rd March 2026, the East Coast Main Line never stopped moving. Passenger expresses, regional units, freight flows and even a rare Class 56 and Class 60 pairing made this one of the most diverse sessions I’ve filmed here.

Filmed between 08:15 and 17:45 on 3rd March 2026, this video captures a full day of rail traffic at Peterborough railway station, one of the busiest locations on the East Coast Main Line.

Throughout the day the station saw a relentless mix of high-speed passenger services and heavy freight movements passing through the platforms and fast lines.

Passenger highlights included:

Class 801 workings including 801221, 801215, 801201, 801204 and more

Class 800 services such as 800203, 800201 and 800104

Class 803 units 803004 and 803002

Class 91 sets including 91114, 91119, 91101 and 91127 with Mk4 coaches

Class 180 units 180105, 180108 and 180114

Class 158 services including 158864 and 158863

Freight traffic added huge variety throughout the day including:

Class 66 workings including 66756, 66735, 66730, 66746, 66728, 66749, 66722, 66703 and more

Additional Class 66 intermodal services including 66505, 66520, 66502 & 66531 and 66509

Class 70 700150 and 700118

Multiple Class 66 freight services including 66139, 66142, 66190 and 66017

One of the standout highlights of the day was the appearance of Class 56 56103 paired with Class 60 60046 working 0Z56 — a rare pairing and the thumbnail feature of this video.

The constant mix of express passenger trains, regional services and heavy freight traffic made this a particularly rewarding day of filming on the ECML
