BR in the 1990s Ebbw Vale Branch Aberbeeg + Ebbw Junction (Newport) (Wales) on 30th July 1998
On the 30th July 1998 I visited the freight only Ebbw Vale Branch and perched myself on the side of a hill over looking the village of Aberbeeg. A glorious view of the hills and the splendid valley lay in front. One solitary class 60 in Load Haul livery trundled past with a short freight heading deeper into the hills. A little after I repositioned myself at Ebbw Junction outside Newport above the GWML. Here plenty of 158's and HST's passed by and a pair of 37's arrived in the yard as well as a class 47 in RFd Livery. An EWS class 08 was in charge of some shunting in the yard. A typical scene was witnessed on this visit.
