"The Toton Recall" Railtour & Open Day, 30th August 1998

Description
This was one of several railtours with gimmicky names that operated in conjunction with the "Rail" magazine organised EWS Toton Centre Open Weekend on 29th & 30th August 1998.

"The Toton Recall" was organised by Pathfinder and ran from Salisbury via Eastleigh, Basingstoke, Reading West curve, Didcot, Oxford and Coventry to Nuneaton where the first locomotive, 47363, was changed for 60044 "Ailsa Craig" which took the train on to Toton Centre. Without a station nearby a special temporary platform had been erected for the duration of the open weekend. With at least three long distance railtours visiting the site each day plus regular shuttles from Derby it seemed sensible. On the way back 60068 "Charles Darwin" hauled the train as far as Birmingham International from where 58041 took the train on back to Salisbury.

At the open day itself the following locos are seen on the video:

33030
56091
D1023
D444 [50044]
50033
59101
59203
45015

47766 & 47776 were seen working top and tail on the Derby shuttle though I am not sure what exactly the pair of Mainline 58s were that passed, one of them looks like it might be 58008. If anyone knows, drop a message in the comments, please!

At Birmingham International an 87 passed on a London train and non-ETH 47200 was seen departing on a cross country service which was formed of Mk.2 Air Conditioned stock. A few enthusiasts were seen on it, though what the ordinary travellers thought is anyones guess!
