Description
A fantastic day back in March at Cotswold Airport, getting up close and personal to former frontline Buccaneers S.2B XX894 and S.2B XW544 to celebrate 30 years since retirement from active service of the iconic Blackburn Buccaneer.

Originally designed for the Royal Navy, later, Buccaneers served with the RAF. Upgraded with advanced radar and laser targeting equipment, they turned out to be formidable ground attack aircraft.

The Buccaneer Aviation Group (TBAG) held their 30 Years and Still Going Strong event, celebrating 30 years since the Buccaneer retired from service, with two ex-Royal Air Force Buccaneers, XX894 & XW544 in action. We were treated to anti det runs, wing folds, hydraulic demonstrations and a fast taxi, lots of photographic opportunities and a brilliant day. XX894 was set to do the fast taxi run, however an issue with the brakes prevented saw XW544 step in and complete the fast taxi run. XW544 is also currently being sanded ready for a fresh coat of paint next year!

We also see other assets of interest around the airfield during the day, so enjoy coverage of Cold War legends in action at Kemble! | 30.03.2024
