On a hot day in June 2026, Class 20 diesel multiple units 20142 and 20189 were seen towing a Balfour Beatty track machine from Ashford to Colchester. Later, Freightliner 66553, operating on behalf of Colas Rail, hauled cranes from Hither Green to Ashford. The video shows these movements taking place under conditions where extreme heat caused points to remain fixed, leading to the use of platforms for train operations.
