Description
A nice Sunday catching the Branch Line Society 'Paxman Quarrier' around the Bristol area, with some classic traction in the form of a DC Rail Class 56 56103 providing the power with GBRF Class 57 57306 aptly named 'Branch Line Society' bringing up the rear from London.

Upon arrival at Bristol, the passengers were given the opportunity for a leg stretch as the recently refurbished 60099 'Ben More Assynt' made a stunning sight arriving from Bristol East Depot to pilot the railtour onto Yate, and up to Tytherington Quarry offering some rare mileage for enthusiasts.

Later in the day, and having completed the Quarry, the tour returns round the Rhubarb Curve, a crucial railway chord connecting Dr. Days Junction to North Somerset Junction, bypassing Bristol Temple Meads station, observed from the A4 road bridge as the consist returns to Bristol East to drop off the 60, before 57306 leads back into Bristol.

After another stop the train continued to North Somerset Jn, before reversing into St Philips Marsh where the 56 led back out and onwards towards London King's Cross via Birmingham. Great to see the different freight operators getting behind a great cause raising money for the Martin House Children's Hospice, and you can find out more about their amazing work here: https://www.martinhouse.org.uk/ | 26.04.2026
