The West Somerset Steam Gala | 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley + 61306 Mayflower & The Britannic Explorer!
The Gala kicked off with former resident Bagnal âVictorâ working a fitting recreation of the directors special from 21st December 1975, very first movement on the line recreated 50 years on.
The second departure from Bishops Lydeard saw the oldest and youngest Manors in preservation top and tailing the Qunatock Belle breakfast train to Minehead. LNER A4 Pacific 60007 then pulled in the crowds departing for Minehead as all the locomotives headed out on their various diagrams, working a comprehensive timetable of double headers, top and tailed moves, freights, shunting operations, local shuttles and much more throughout the day. Operating across 23 miles, even the slightest delay can have a knock on effect on the late running incurred through the day but despite this the team did well to keep everything going working to a revised late running WTT.
