The Chesham Flyer: 65 Years On | Bluebell Railway - Branch Line Gala Weekend 2025 - 16/03/25

The 11th September 1960 saw the final scheduled steam service on the the Chesham branch of the Metropolitan Line, hauled by LMS Ivatt Tank 41284. 65 years later, and "The Chesham Flyer" is recreated once more, with the Isle of Wight Steam Railway's Ivatt 2MT Tank 41313 visiting the Bluebell Railway, appropriately coupled with the railway's Metropolitan coach set as part of the 2025 Branch Line Gala Weekend.

Running alongside the guest Ivatt was a selection of the Bluebell's home fleet, including new build LBSCR H2 Atlantic 32424 'Beachy Head', LBSCR A1X Terrier No.72 Fenchurch and SECR O1 Class No.65. Sadly, failure of second guest loco 68067 shortly before the event saw the Austerity swapped for Southern Bulleid Battle of Britain Class 34059 'Sir Archibald Sinclair', with 68067 displayed static in the yard at Sheffield Park.
