Out with a Bang! | Detonators for 45690 'Leander' Farewell - Epping Ongar Railway - 12/05/24
Having ran her last mainline tour in September 2023, 45690 has spent the last 8 months visiting the East Lancashire Railway. the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, the Mid Hants Railway and the Epping Ongar Railway. For her final day in traffic, the locomotive put on a strong performance, running alongside visiting GWR Saint Class 2999 'Lady of Legend' from Didcot Railway Centre.
Joining the train at Ongar for the final run of the weekend, a series of detonators were set off to mark the engine's last passenger service, with the locomotive's owner, Chris Beet, in the driving seat.

A historic locomotive, LMS Stanier Jubilee 45690 'Leander', made its final passenger service on the Epping Ongar Railway, marking the end of its extended boiler certificate. The locomotive had been touring several heritage railways over the past eight months, including the East Lancashire Railway, Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, and Mid-Hants Railway. During its farewell run, 45690 was joined by GWR Saint Class 2999 'Lady of Legend' and featured a series of detonators set off at Ongar to commemorate the event.
