To make it worth while driving across the country I needed a early start from home at 03.25 but I did have my son Paul and our mate Matthew for company as we travelled to Norfolk arriving at the first location at 06.55. The plan was me filming the class 37s and 68s on the short sets out of Norwich, and for them to travel on the trains with a rover ticket and a few waves. The day was going to plan until the return with the 68s from Lowestoft was held up due to the Reedham Swing Bridge breaking down and stuck in the open position. (it did get repaired by 12.30) All was going well for Paul and Matthew until 2J80 Norwich to Lowestoft was held at Reedham due to a failed 153 unit just after the junction at Reedham. After waiting a while it was decided to divert it to Great Yarmouth for passengers to get to Lowestoft by bus.. But they would not let passengers bashers on the return train due to it going ECS to Reedham to continue its booked route back to Norwich, but P & M did get to Brundall in time to pick up the 68s from NR. The day was rounded off with a nice steak at a Wetherspoons pub I hadn't visited in St Neots. arriving back home at 22.30hrs
