Teddy Bears Picnic | '14s at 60' - Ecclesbourne Valley Railway - 25&27/07/24
10 years on from the Class 14's 50th Anniversary celebrations at the East Lancashire Railway in 2014, seven preserved members of the class convene at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway for the '14s at 60' event. Four such examples, D9551 D9525, D9529 and D9553 were not present at the 50th anniversary event, with the latter, D9553, having only recently re-entered traffic, with this marking the teddy bear's first gala appearance in over 27 years.
The penultimate service of the day from Duffield saw the septuple of Class 14s running together on a cavalcade working to Wirksworth. Included in the working was home fleet 14 D9537 'Eric', which saw its last day in traffic on the Saturday, with the loco now withdrawn for overhaul and repaint.
