50050 FEARLESS + D213 ANDAINA cover rare ground on a private tour to Paignton + 220033 DEBUT & MORE!
Friday provided some English Electric action on the South West patch and we certainly weren’t disappointed!
Shrouded in secrecy, a private railtour chartered Locomotive Services heritage diesels D213 'Andania' and 50050 'Fearless' for a working to convey GWR staff and industry partners to various current and potential future temporary stabling locations for use during recent and forthcoming engineering blockades.
The loco hauled set took the the senior management from GWR, NR, GBRf, DFT and ORR, while a GWR IET 800036 'Dr Paul Stephenson' was chartered as part of the industry collaboration to take more staff, with both trains accessing rare sidings and yards as a little thank you for the recent collaboration between railway companies to support in moving stock to alternate yards while engineering works have taken place. 57603 'Pendennis Castle' + 57312 were also sent from Reading with a full Sleeper set ECS to Fairwater Yard in conjunction with the days events.
The 50 and 40 looked absolutely immaculate and sounded on point throughout the day, and it was great to get a chase in down to Paignton, with some decent weather also helping make Fridays chase worthwhile | 26 - 27.02.2026
