LMS Takeover | Severn Valley Railway - Autumn Steam Gala 2024 - 20-21/09/24

A heavy presence of the LMS at the Severn Valley Railway's 2024 Autumn Steam Gala, with the presence of two Stanier 4-6-0s, Black Five 44932 and Jubilee Class 45596 'Bahamas', home fleet Stanier Mogul 13268 and visiting 'Lanky Tank' 11456 debuting a newly applied LMS livery. Black Five 44932 makes a rare gala appearance, with the Carnforth based loco having seen little mainline work over the course of 2024 owing to the lack of air brake system. Similar can be said for Jubilee 45596 'Bahamas', which had previously visited Peak Rail before moving south to the Severn Valley. An addition to the Midland Lineup was LMS 3F Jinty 47383 sat on static display at Kidderminster Station, with the locomotive awaiting overhaul.

Running alongside the visiting Midland locos were home fleet members GWR 4930 'Hagley Hall', Pannier Tank 7714 and the railway's Class 108 DMU. Additionally, Saint Class 2999 'Lady of Legend' and BR Standard 4MT 75069 would also running services over the gala weekend. In the Engine House at Highley, GWR Small Prairie 4566 celebrates her 100th Birthday, whilst Talyllyn Railway 0-4-0WT No.6 Douglas could be viewed alongside Longmoor Military Railway 2-10-0 Austerity No.600 'Gordon', with the Narrow Gauge loco visiting the Severn Valley ahead of going on display at an upcoming model railway exhibition at the NEC in November.
