Historian and Broadcaster Tim Dunn was also on hand to say a few words and cut the ribbon ahead of the first service. The event additionally coincided with the annual Auto Fest event, which saw a number of classic vehicles on display around the site, as well as live music and entertainment. Running alongside 6695 was the Railway Centre's own Hunslet Austerity Tank NCB No.66, which performed frequent parallel runs with the GWR tank engine along one of the sites demonstration lines.
