The Greatest Gathering - Derby Litchurch Lane - 01-03/08/25

The first weekend of August 2025 saw Britain's largest gathering of locomotives, trains and rolling stock at the Alstom works at Litchurch Lane in Derby in celebration of 200 years of railways.

This video only gives a taste of the vast scale of the event, with around 140 exhibits on display across the site. Numerous examples of steam, diesel and electric traction covering 200 years of railway history were in attendance, from the original Locomotion No.1 from 1825 right through to some of the latest units and locomotives operational in Britain today.

Along with static displays, rides along Alstom's test track were available onboard Transport for London Class 345 345055, whilst steam rides through the site were performed by LMS Jubilee Class 45699 'Galatea', currently in the guise of 45627 'Sierra Leone', in addition to Narrow Gauge steam rides behind Ffestiniog Railway's Small England 0-4-0TT 'Prince' and Hunslet 3902 Trangkil No.4.
