Locomotion on Skerne Bridge | Stockton & Darlington Bicentenary - Day 2: Darlington - 27/09/25
Day two would see the 'Locomotion' replica make several runs on the mainline across Skerne Bridge in Darlington, an original structure from the Stockton & Darlington Railway, dating back to the line's opening in 1825. The run pasts also coincided with the anniversary date, with the opening train having run on the 27th September 1825.
In addition to 'Locomotion', the thousands of gathered spectators were also treated to the sight of LMS Black Five 44871 passing over the bridge, running the Railway Touring Company's "Railway 200 Special" charter along the Bishop Line to the Weardale Railway.
