*Sunday 11th June 2000* - Class 47 47827 heads through Cosham towards Cosham junction with the 1S39 0905 Poole - Glasgow virgin train service. The service had been diverted from the usual route via Winchester between Southampton and Reading so at St Denys ran via Netley which meant missing out the Southampton Airport stop. HSTs that were also diverted this day and reversed at Eastleigh, which allowed for the stop at Southampton Airport. I've always assumed the easiness to switch ends at Eastleigh for a HST is why they ran this was, as for a Class 47 it would need to run round the stock which would take far longer. Also I believe the HSTs were not cleared to travel via the Netley line from St Denys to Fareham, which after they ran onwards via Havant and Guildford to head onto Reading.
