Tuesday 5th May at Carlisle. All seemed normal until I realised there were none if any northbound pendolinos. There had been a fatality at Wigan leading to traffic building up there. Avanti turned some southbound trains at Preston and sent them in service back to Glasgow. The Tesco train was delayed by well over two hours. By omitting some siding stops the ballast train behind it had recovered a lot of time whilst being ahead of the Tesco for most of the way. Meanwhile ScotRail sent another 156 unit to Wolverton for Rust repairs.
