Following dodgy reports from the vegetable patch, I went to find real answers for myself.
Today, I return to Collingham following the "permanent closure of Cross Lane" earlier in the week.
Yeah, it was of course false. But it made for a good video title.
So, even though I already knew the answer, I went to investigate anyway.
To answer "Is Cross Lane Level Crossing still open?" Of course it is. Its closure was binned in 2023, following the postponment of the Swinderby resignalling project of which this is connected to.
However, after returning to Collingham Station, there was a signalling blip. Almost to say "you've got your answer, but I won't let you leave"

The video addresses the status of the Cross Lane Level Crossing following reports of its closure. It confirms that the crossing remains open, as its closure was abandoned in 2023 due to delays in the Swinderby resignalling project. The footage includes scenes from Collingham Station and mentions several railway operators, stock types, and locations associated with the area. A brief signalling issue is noted during the visit, but no further operational details are provided.
Fishplate has identified 7 locomotives in this video. We’ve also matched 5 headcodes and 7 operators . Create a free account to see where they appear, unlock timestamps and locations, and view the full breakdown.
