Description
After its starring role in last weekends West Somerset Railway Spring Steam Gala https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGGuS03r0uI it was back to business this Saturday for LNER A4 60007 ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’ as it took charge of the second English Riviera Express of 2026.

The luxury Britannic Explorer was also out again today working out of Bishops Lydeard down to Cornwall in the hands of GBRF 66748 ‘St Michael’s Mount’ + 66744 ‘Heart of Wales’, with a run round again at Taunton to enable passengers to use the observation coach, and we start coverage with this at Norton Fitzwarren and Taunton.

We then see Locomotive Services Class 45 Peak 45118 ‘The Royal Artilleryman’ arriving at 40 Steps before running off to hold in Taunton Loco Sidings, as 60007 ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’ backs down to meet the stock.

After we push on to Dawlish Warren where the Streak makes a quick pass heading through bound for Kingswear, and after a nice afternoon spent around Dawlish, the final sequence shows the A4 returning the English Riviera Express past Cockwood Harbour following a stopper. Gresley will be based out of the West Somerset Railway for a few months between tour commitments and a potential Gresley Weekend is planned at the WSR in July, so lots more opportunities to make the most of an A4 in the South West this year! | 09.05.2026
