The very first new Caledonian Sleeper coaches arrive in UK
The new coaches were supposed to start in operation in spring 2018 - but this currently seems a bit of an optimistic target.
Although it's unlikely any Caledonian Sleeper coaches will ever pass this location again, the Class 92s that will haul them, some in CS livery, are not an unusual sight her in south London, running to and from the Channel Tunnel where they are used as well as on the sleeper trains pout of Euston.
New Caledonian Sleeper coaches, built in Spain and previously tested in the Czech Republic, are being transported from Dollands Moor to Wembley for onward movement to Glasgow. These Mk5 coaches are set to replace older Mk2 and Mk3 units used on Scottish sleeper services. The Class 92 locomotives that will haul them are occasionally seen in south London, operating between the Channel Tunnel and Euston. While the new coaches were expected to enter service by spring 2018, this remains an optimistic target. The video captures part of their journey through the UK.
