A tale of two FOCs - the Class 92 in 2017

Channel: CambriaJunction

Description
Both DB and GBRf currently own class 92s but appear to take rather different approaches to their upkeep. Firstly GBRf's 92028 and 92044 pass on a Willesden to Dollands Moor working, most likely in readiness to bring the weekly China Clay working through the tunnel. 92028, along with several of GBRf's 92s, has recently been refurbished and here runs under its own power from the third rail. About an hour later DBs 92011 and 92019 pass in the other direction, being hauled by a pair of 67s from Dollands Moor to Wembley. These I believe are on their way to Crewe for repairs, part of a small remaining fleet at DB of which only a few appear to be in working order at any time. Even when working, these locos can't make this trip under their own power as DB have disabled their 3rd rail capabilities. These means that various workings between the tunnel and London which used to be handled by 92s are now hauled by diesel, with DBs 92s restricted to working through the tunnel and via HS1 (or being dragged back and forth to Crewe for repairs).
While GBRf's investment in their fleet of 92s inspires optimism for their future, the apparently increasingly decrepit state of DB's is a bit sad to witness.
AI summary Generated from Fishplate metadata

The video shows Class 92 electric locomotives operated by GBRf and DB Schenker in different conditions. GBRf's 92028 and 92044 are seen running from Willesden to Dollands Moor, likely preparing for a China Clay service through the tunnel. Later, DB's 92011 and 92019 are hauled by diesel locomotives from Dollands Moor to Wembley, heading towards Crewe for repairs. These DB units lack third rail capability and are limited in their operations, with some services now handled by diesel traction instead of electric locomotives.
