There was a landfill site there that took in household rubbish from London (from Shanks & McEwan at Cricklewood) as well as railway spent ballast from mengineering worksites. We see both on here, a pair of 31s arrive from the Bletchley direction which stables in the Up Goods Siding before the bin train from Cricklewood arrives behind a 47. These were heavy trains and the 47s were worked hard. Being in the twilight of their years several of them expired on this job, a couple failing near Bedford Fire Station after a good thrashing all the way from Cricklewood! The local passenger service was run by NSE bubble cars
