46447 returns at the East Somerset Railway! Plus D1015 'Western Champion', 35028 'Clan Line' & 47802
The locomotive looked and sounded splendid, back where she belongs and the work is a credit to the East Somerset volunteers and staff who have worked wonders to return her to traffic in such a short space of time. GWR 4555 and DMU L231 were also in action working todays services, with a comprehensive timetable in operation and a short demonstration freight.
After seeing the first few trains at Cranmore, we headed across to the nearby Castle Cary mainline station to witness the first of two railtours in action in the area today, D1015 'Western Champion' operating Vintage Trains Golden Hind to Plymouth.
Later in the afternoon we see the second mainline excursion, 35028 'Clan Line' working the Railway Touring Companies Atlantic Coast Express, restarting from Exeter St Davids having arrived via the LSWR route, and heading up to Bristol, passing Huntworth bound for London Waterloo returning via Bristol, Westbury and Salisbury.
Our final shot shows the Western retuning past Oath in the evening sunset on a very warm Saturday out and about on the railways! | 23.05.2026
