Description
The late afternoon of Monday 18th May saw the LSL Chairman's Train, complete with Chairman Jeremy Hosking and guests, pass through Cumbria en route from London Euston to Kilmarnock. Blue Peter hauled the train from Crewe to Hellifield from where it went empty to Upperby Junction. Meanwhile the traveling party boarded Class 121 Flora for a scenic run over the Settle Carlisle line to Carlisle. Here they changed trains again with the 'big' chairman's train now hauled by a pair of Class 37s for the run out to Kilmarnock and back to Carlisle on the following Morning.
On 19th the train was then hauled by Class 90 to Euston - I caught it at Crewe, where I also saw Blue Peter arrive en route back to the LSL depot. The Chairman's train was seen again that evening at Stafford hauled by 57302 on one of its first revenue runs for LSL.
Rather a marmite livery, all locos involved are now painted in LNWR / BR lined black.

As of 20th there are three Class 37s plus Flora at Upperby depot.
