Victor & Vulcan Reunion Steam Gala - North Tyneside Steam Railway - 30th Apr 2022
No. 401 'Vulcan', part of the NTSRs home fleet, was joined by class mate No. 403 'Victor' as a guest from The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway in Cumbria for this three day Bank Holiday Weekend Gala.
Both steam locos were built (with a 3rd named 'Valliant') for the Port Talbot Steel Works in South Wales in the early 1950s eventually working together again at the Austin Motor Company in Birmingham.
Another stint together occurred later in preservation when both were bought by the West Somerset Railway in the mid 1970s where they remained for different periods until the mid/late 1980s.
A short visit for me here but a very well organised and well run event by all involved in it's running.
This steam gala was postponed in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Two W.G. Bagnall class 0-6-0ST steam locomotives, No. 401 'Vulcan' and No. 403 'Victor', reunited for the first time since the 1980s at the North Tyneside Steam Railway in North East England. The event took place over a three-day Bank Holiday Weekend Gala, with 'Victor' joining 'Vulcan' as a guest from The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway in Cumbria. Both locomotives had previously worked together at the Port Talbot Steel Works and later in preservation on the West Somerset Railway. The event was postponed in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
