'The Legends of Industry' Steam Gala - Tanfield Railway - 15 June 2019
The first scenes are of the steam locos being prepared prior to the start of passenger and demonstration freight trains working the line, with volunteers cleaning, shunting and watering the locos. These were shot at Marley Hill Yard. The actual Shed is in need of repair to the roof and the video shows the inside of the shed. The railway has a fundraising appeal for the repair work.
Guest Locos were GWR Class 0-6-0ST No. 813 loaned from The Severn Valley Railway which had the cabside No. 12 painted on to reflect its many years at the Backworh Colliery.
Another guest loco was Seaham Harbour No 18 'Lewin' loaned from the nearby Beamish Museum which was used for shunting in Marley Hill Yard. The rest of the running locos which are from the home fleet are listed in the opening scrolling text on the actual video.
In the rest of the video trains are seen running on the line both demonstration freight and passenger services.
Thanks to all involved in this excellent event.
