Jacobite and Belle at Carlisle: Black 5s, 37s, 90s and Tangmere 30 May 2026

Saturday 30th May at Carlisle. Starting early to catch West Coast Railways stock move to Tom na Faire depot at Fort William. Train engine was a class 37 bringing a pair of Black 5s, their support coaches and a tool van plus train of CDL fitted Mk 2 stock. Also at the station was a Regional Railways liveried Class 37 with a Structure Gauging test train. At midday the Northern Belle arrived behind Tangmere.

With engineering work underway between Wigan and Warrington, Avanti's Euston Glasgow trains were diverted via Manchester with Edinburghs largely running from Preston. At the same time the intermodals were affected by using that diversion. The mid morning class 90-hauled train had run earlier in the morning when I wasn't at the station.
