A steam locomotive, LMS Jubilee class 4-6-0 No. 45690 Leander, led the Cumbrian Mountain Express from Manchester Victoria to Carlisle on 26 January 2019. The journey included a temporary change in traction when TWPS developed a fault at Bolton, requiring West Coast Railways class 47 locomotive 47772 to pilot the train to Blackburn. After repairs at Hellifield, Leander resumed leading the train to Carlisle, with the class 47 providing support from the rear. The video captures key moments of this mixed-steam and diesel operation along the route.
