*Sunday 9th December 2001* - Class 47 47853 painted in the BR XP64 Blue livery passing through Cosham with the 1M88 1305 Bournemouth - Manchester virgin trains service. This service had been diverted from the usual Winchester route between Southampton and Reading so at St Denys ran via Netley (missing out Southampton Airport), then Havant, and Guildford to head onto Reading. HSTs were also diverted on this day but would run to Eastleigh and reverse which allowed for the Southampton Airport stop. I guess easy to switch ends at Eastleigh for a HST than for a Class 47 that would need to run round the stock, but I also believe the HSTs were not cleared to travel via the Netley line from St Denys to Fareham anyway.
