Steam Train 60009 Union of South Africa | Cosham | 5th October 2003 & 19th October 2003
*01:00 Sunday 19th October 2003* - The LNER Class A4 is seen again at Cosham heading the other way back to Alton on the âChandlerâs Ford Phoenixâ. This steam train railtour was arranged to commemorate the re-opening of Chandlers Ford Station although the station was actually re-opened 5 months earlier in May!.
A steam locomotive, identified as 60009 Union of South Africa, is shown operating at Cosham on two separate dates. On one occasion, it is heading west towards Alton while pulling a railtour named âThe Daylight Countrymanâ. Later, the LNER Class A4 locomotive is seen at Cosham heading in the opposite direction back to Alton as part of another railtour called âChandlerâs Ford Phoenixâ. The latter event was intended to mark the re-opening of Chandlers Ford Station, though the station had already reopened several months earlier.
