Barrow Hill Depot in BR Days
This video explores Barrow Hill, a former British Railways depot near Chesterfield and Staveley. Once known as Staveley Roundhouse, it served primarily as a stabling point rather than an active depot. By the time of this visit, no locomotives bore the shed code BH, with the last three having been Class 08 shunters in 1987. The site was closed by BR in 1991 and fell into decline until a preservation group restored it, reopening to the public in 1998. Now a popular attraction, it hosts a variety of diesel and electric locomotives.
