Following the serious storm damage that had occurred overnight back in Feb 2014, part of the renewals included reconstruction and bolstering of the section between Marine Parade and Kennaway Tunnel. Despite some local concern, this work was finally completed and allowed it's reopening in July 2020. Addition reconstruction continues along the section Langstone Rock side of the station and as of March 2022, the work is almost complete with the expectation of full reopening in the spring of this year.
