Description
On Friday 12th June I took a trip across country to Newcastle upon Tyne and its Central Station. Something of a change of scenery from Carlisle. The highlight of the day was ex GWR Castle class 4-6-0 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe and the Cathedrals Express from Birmingham, with 37240 as support. Throughout my time at Newcastle there were 800s galore - from LNER, TransPennine and Lumo with plenty of Voyagers, some in new livery, from CrossCountry. Northern 156s and 158s were on more local services. On the freight sid ewe have Biomass trains to and from Lynemouth Power Station - I recorded two, just missing a third. At the end of the afternoon the daily Intercity 225 service arrived and departed from Kings Cross with its Class 91 loco.
