Disappearing Lines :Foxlow Junction freight
The junction linked the Doe Lea branch with the “Back Line” between Chesterfield and Rotherham, carrying traffic from pits such as Markham and Bolsover. Sidings were overgrown, signals weathered, yet the line remained alive with coal trains bound for power stations and disposal points at Oxcroft and beyond.
This was the final chapter of an industrial landscape. Bolsover Colliery closed in 1993, Markham in 1994 and with them much of the traffic that gave Foxlow its purpose. The film captures those last years — steel on rail, smoke in the air and the echo of a railway that once carried the lifeblood of the district.
