Starting at Pengam on January 22nd, we find 88008 light engine, having come down from Rugby on the 0Z58, 0Z59 return, ready to depart on her return run. Earlier in the month I was back at Pontypool and New Inn expecting to find the new car park, footbridge and lift open, but so far no action !. Next across to Cwmbargoed, once a favorite visiting place for coal movements, now very quiet and still. Abergavenny next stop to record the latest developments on the new and very high footbridge. Finally back to Taffs Well, staff car park now open, FLIRTS passing through and passenger car park almost complete. Quite a busy month despite no coal movements, iron ore, MURCO tanks and HSTs. South Wales is still the place to be!!
