Description
Today marks the end if an era with the last bitumen tankers being removed from Preston docks as apparently its now cheaper to move it all on the road for some crazy reason! Any ideas why then let us know in the comments!

A sunny morning at Preston, firstly we see 56090 on the Log empties putting on a show through the station. Yes Iโ€™m still getting used to the new camera ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฃ

Then its 56113s turn to drag the 18 empty tankers out of the Total Colas Ribble Rail sidings on the Docks. One final thrash by the loan grid sees them onto the mainline heading for Carlisle (via the S&C) then further for storage likely at the MOD site.

Then we see the Northbound Tesco freight through the station followed by 56090 taking a full log train south at Charnock Richard and finally a southbound Tesco at Farrington also from this morning.

Worth getting up for the double grids and what might be the last ever commercial freight move out of the docks. Could that be 180 years of industry coming to an end? Apparently for now but I hear something maybe be coming back in the future ๐Ÿ‘€

If you want to see the thrash from the dock end of the line as seen in the thumbnail shot check out this video:
