Flying Scotsman slips under power as she departs York. May 10th 2016
Having made an early start at the NRM to secure my place for the naming of 66779 later that day, I dashed back to the station to record the loco and her support coach take the train from Kings Cross onward to Newcastle. Later that afternoon, after GBRfs class 66779 had been named Evening Star, I came back to the platform to record Scotsman being detached from the train and her return to the NRM. Always difficult getting a clear view on busy stations, but a steady hand and good zoom do help. Also the staff on this station, including the " Station Master " are very accommodating with crowds of enthusiasts. A bonus for me was the Grand Central service to London; a livery I fInd very suited to the HST. Next we see 47580 County of Essex and 47760 arrive to return the train and its passengers to Kings Cross. Finally 91105 heads north to complete another clips from three busy days in York. Next week the Severn Valley for two days
It shows the engine departing York and returning to the National Railway Museum after being named Evening Star. Other locos seen include 47580 County of Essex and 47760, as well as 91105 heading north. The footage also includes a Grand Central service to London and highlights the activity at York station during a busy rail event.
